Royston Runners’ Notice Board

Coming Up:

Newmarket Race Night—Friday 1st August

Horse racing plus live music from “The Feeling”
Entry (including coach travel) 20 per person

As in previous years we have tickets for the Garden enclosure, which means you will need to take your own chairs and table (if required). Children are welcome, but will need to pay the full price as we do not have any concession tickets. Dress code is casual (Jeans and trainers are fine—plus warm clothes as it can get cold in the evening).

You can buy drinks at the venue but you are permitted to take your own drinks, including alcohol. Food—Either take your own, purchase food at the venue or book a picnic for 5 per head.

The coach will leave the Town Hall car park at 5pm and return after the bandhave finished (approx 11pm)

Booking forms will soon be available in the runners’ drawer.

Harvest Trail - 21 September 2008.
There is a choice of a 6 or 10 mile course. If you have problems entering on line, please let us know as there has appeared to be some difficulty. Please sign the list for marshalls on the notice board at the Heath.  This race makes revenue for the club, keeping subs down, a worthwhile reason to participate if you can.

What's the difference between First Claim and Second Claim?

The first athletics club or running club you join, becomes your First Claim club and you would compete in all events wearing your club colours. Under some circumstances, you might also want to join another club (which would then be your second claim club). For example, you may join Royston Runners for the cross-country events (and the social side of life!) but you may also want to compete in athletics track events, in which case you could join a second club that specialised in track competitions

If you then entered a marathon or a cross-country event, you would put Royston Runners as your affiliated club, but if you took part in a track event, you would enter under the name of your second club

There are more details are on the UK Athletics website (see Rules for Competitions, rules 4 and 5), along with details of the rules of how to move from one club to another
