National selection for both Emma and Sophie

Members of the Royston Crows athletics club took part in the Herts Counties cross country championships in early January.  Over 400 athletes turned out for this event and all the Crows ran brilliantly on a tough hilly course.

In the under 11 races, Ellen Annets and Josie Pearson came 27th and 28th despite a fall in the slippery conditions. Gus Rees and Robbie Filby ran exceptionally well to finish 9th and 17th. In the U13’s girls Emma Calder raced to 10th position, successfully gaining selection to represent Hertfordshire in the National Intercounties in March. Rebecca O’Sullivan ran strongly for 23rd position, after a return from illness.Jo Maude (U13 boys, 14th), and Toby Hone (U17’s 11th) narrowly missed out on selection.

In the Cambridgeshire counties Sophie Jones was also successful, coming 6th and gaining selection to represent Cambridgeshire in the National Intercounties. In the U15’s races, Claire Woods and Peter Allen both had strong runs to place 16th and 22nd respectively.

Well done everyone!
