These races are open to all runners of all abilities. They are a great opportunity to improve your fitness and meet other members of the club with whom you do not normally run, as well competing for your running club.

Home Race Report Tuesday 3rd June - Paul Haynes
In conditions that could only be described as awful, the Royston Runners hosted the second race in the Mid-Week Leagues. The non-stop rain caused logisticalnightmares, including a last minute change to cars parking in a farmyard, as thecricket field was flooded! More grey hairs for Maurice!
So with the rain falling the runners set off. After running through many flooded areas first home for Royston was Ian Murray, who had told me before the race that he was just going to ‘jog’ round! Let’s hope his fitness improves!!! Second home was Richard Lowden and third Toby Staines with a Personal Best Time. This was a great effort considering the atrocious conditions. For the ladies we had Nicky Tyrell first home, followed by Wendy Jones and third, Sian Webster. We had 60 Royston Runners turn out overall. A great effort.
The runners are now fourth in the league and we are looking to improve that position at Orion Harriers!
I would also like to thank everyone else who helped make the race happen. Thanks to those who contributed to the buffet……especially the people who brought the ‘wagon wheels’!
Standing giving out place tickets at the end of the race with Maureen Miller, we were impressed with the good humour and tolerance while we tried to hand out tickets and keep them dry at the same time! Our thanks to everyone.
Club Captain’s Comment - Sean Allen
What a turn out! The first race at Welwyn saw lots of new faces and regulars competing on a very pleasant evening. The two-lap course proved good for our twenty four women and twenty four men, scoring well for the club to finish fourth overall that night.
Next was the home event, proving to be a challenging night with rain, wind and floods. We could not use the cricket field to park on, but Maurice managed to get parking in Miller’s Yard to save the day, so thanks to all the helpers and marshals who braved the weather to make the race possible. The race itself went well for the team, with a very good turn out helping the Club to stay in fourth position and close the gap on the third place team, so with as many runners as possible coming along and hopefully enjoying themselves, the Club can only get better with everyone’s commitment.
